You must have to update down the android phone before it gets too late as updating it down is the only way by which you can visit a large number of secure sites. So, better to update it. According to the android police, certificate authority let’s encrypt is there to warn down the people that all the android phones that are running up with versions before 7.1.1 Nougat is not going to trust the certificate going to root in 2021. Furthermore, this is going to lock the people from the use of more secure sites. The organization is going to stop default cross-signing for the certificate from the starting day of functioning that is January 11th, 2021. Therefore, this is going to drop a cross-signing partnership entirely on September 1st of that year.
There is a partial workaround available by installing Firefox and using down its own certificate store. But this is not going to help with rival clients or functionality beyond browsers.

Many Secure Websites Will Not Be Supported by Old Android Phones From September 2021
It’s very much common for developers to support older operating systems. however, this is a sore point but still it is because of the android updates policies. Furthermore, let’s encrypt noted that about 33.8 percent of android users run an older version of Google Play, and hardware vendors cut off nearly support. It is not common for the android vendors to offer down few updates by the previous year and some of them are stuck with their shipping OS. You might have bought a phone in 2016 and 2017 but still, you may close down the access just because of the older version. So, better to check down your phone before you lose access.
However, the good news is that this situation is improving because Samsung and other Android makers are committing to three years of OS updates.
