Sources claim that TikTok recently filed a lawsuit against the US government when President Trump decided to ban Byte Dance owned application. Through a blog post, the TikTok Company Byte Dance explained why they filled a complaint against the US administration. They said that we tried to resolve the issues but the administration of the US ignored our intensive efforts to address down their concerns. Hence, this is the only reason why a complaint has been filled.
Furthermore, the social media platform argued that the ban prevents it from the Fifth Amendment right of them due to the process. Nextly, they have we do not take suing the government lightly but we were not left with any other option. So, that’s the reason why we have to take this step down. However, the action taken is just to protect our rights, rights of employees, and community, the Tiktok claims.
Probing further, Tiktok says that Trump signed an order weeks before this decision. The executive orders signed were regarding barring the application from the USA if it is not sold to some other company. TikTok was having till mid-September time for the selling but Trump extended it to November 12th, 2020. But then suddenly he decided that the US should ban this app and this is the only reason why the company has filed a complaint against the US administration. The thing that they have done to the company is totally unfair.
Lawsuits of Trump claim that Trump’s executive order offers no evidence. In simple words, there were no backup allegations that Tiktok presents a national security threat because of ties with China. Moreover, the application company also says that Trump’s orders are not rooted in the bonafide national security concerns. But rather it is part of the US economic battle with China. However, the complaint has been filled but there are no further updates if TikTok will be banned in the US or not.
