New Year is one of my favourite times of the year. I always celebrate the new year with loved ones and it’s a great time to reflect on the past year and also set yourself some goals for the coming 12 months. It’s a time for new beginnings and to be the best version of yourself. Here are some words which will motivate, inspire and celebrate the next 12 months and all that the new year may bring. I hope you enjoy my short New Year poems and that you can use them to inspire your fresh year.
Short New Year Poems
Ring Out the Old
Ring out wild bells, let the frosty light shine,
From the passing of the year, Auld Lang Syne.
The time bomb of days moves swift and unseen,
But a new hope beckons, bright and serene.
Let false pride fall, embrace a clean slate,
Shake hands with the coming new year, our fate.
Through the burden of a year, let us now cheer,
With nobler modes of life in the bright new year.
A New Dawn
New Year’s morning, with winter snow bright,
Brings good cheer beneath the frosty light.
The darkling thrush sings of a brand new year,
John Clare’s essence of nature echoes clear.
A kindlier hand for the neighbour’s face,
And a larger heart for the human race.
Good riddance to the past year’s false pride,
A sweet new start as hope’s wings glide.
Resolutions Unfold
A new year’s resolution, a promise to make,
The faithless coldness of the times to break.
Shake hands with dear friends, toast the sky,
As flying clouds bring dreams soaring high.
Good times await in the coming days,
For sweeter manners and nobler ways.
The essence of New Year calls us to be,
Brighter, kinder, from sea to sea.
Bells of Tennyson
Happy bells ring out for Lord Tennyson’s rhyme,
Through the burden of the year’s passage of time.
In the wild sky of the winter’s chill,
A new face rises, a stronger will.
Mary Oliver’s quiet words softly weave,
The beauty of life on New Year’s Eve.
With Thomas Hardy and Ella’s bright pen,
The new year’s poetry lives again.
Auld Lang Syne
For Auld Lang Syne, let’s lift a toast,
To the good times we treasure most.
As Robert Burns guides our hearts anew,
To dear friends and the love of truth.
The past year fades with its joys and tears,
The coming year shines, dispelling fears.
With helping hands and a larger heart,
We embrace the New Year, a brand new start.

Frosty Morning Light
In the frosty light of New Year’s Day,
The winter snow sparkles in soft array.
The burden of a year melts away fast,
Good riddance to shadows the past year cast.
A bright new year with a new day’s grace,
A kindlier hand for each neighbour’s face.
A perfect time to extend good cheer,
And make the best of the coming year.
Wild Bells, Wild Sky
Wild bells ring out in the wild sky vast,
The essence of New Year’s here at last.
As Sylvia Plath’s words echo deep,
Awakening dreams from their quiet sleep.

With every church bell, a heart to fill.
Through the clean slate of the year’s embrace,
Let’s journey forth with love and grace.
Flying Clouds and Hopes
Flying clouds drift o’er a frosty plain,
The new hope whispers in soft refrain.
Through the end of the year’s fleeting guise,
A bright New Year’s morning shall arise.
Ogden Nash’s humour fills the air,
With witty toasts and hearts laid bare.
To the past year’s trials, we softly wave,
And enter the new with spirits brave.
Muriel’s Call
Muriel Rukeyser’s voice echoes here,
In the classic poems of the New Year.
Good times mingle with winds’ hearty gust,
And the love of truth restores our trust.
The death of the old year gives us space,
For a brighter beginning, a kinder face.
With each happy bell that chimes and sings,
The passage of time brings new blessings.
Emily’s New Year
Emily Dickinson’s musings unfold,
In New Year’s rhymes, both tender and bold.
The faithless coldness of times grows warm,
In the helping hand and common love’s charm.
The burden of the year’s weight departs,
Replaced by kind words and open hearts.
A larger heart and sweeter manners rise,
Beneath the vast, forgiving skies.
Passing of Time
The passing of the year is soft and slow,
With church bells chiming through winter snow.
A bright new year with a clean slate gleams,
A perfect time to embrace our dreams.
Through the kindlier hand of love’s embrace,
We meet each neighbour’s smiling face.
In the moment’s stay, we find delight,
A happier year dawns with frosty light.
